Starting December 3, a circular 8 meter high screen in a 30 meter wide installation will be set up in Bältespännarparken. Here you can step straight into Gothenburg’s 400-year history in a 360-degree film experience. The film is 12 minutes long and is a part of Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary.

– We have a big festive celebration of Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary ahead of us in 2023, but when 2021 comes to an end, it feels great to sum up the birthday year and at the same time look ahead with this very special film experience of Gothenburg’s history, says Mia Samuelsson, Artistic Director at Göteborg & Co for Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary.

Experience Gothenburg’s 400-year-old History

The film is produced by Groundfloor Production and Kristian Wedel from Göteborgs-Posten, as a historical guide, conributed to making a selection from the city’s rich history, which is potrayed with film clips from, among others, SVT and Woah Dad.

During the film you can experience the following:

• A journey through Gothenburg in the 17th and 18th centuries through a 3D modeling of the city. During the trip, people of Gothenburg who have shaped the city appears: Frigga Carlberg, Beda Hallberg, William Chalmers, Sven Wingqvist and more.

• The ships and the three large shipyards Götaverken, Lindholmen and Eriksberg, which are Gothenburg’s pride until the shipyard crisis of the 1970s.

• Gothenburg’s sports history with IFK Göteborg, Ingo and Khaddi Sagnia as shining Gothenburg stars.

• Gothenburg humour represented by Sten-Åke Cederhök.

• Gothenburg’s musical life through Håkan Hellström at Ullevi and Katarina Hemlin’s anniversary song.
