Artscape 2021

In 2021, Artscape returned to the city to create new large-scale mural art. The works of art were ready for the formal birthday celebration on 4 June. In total, seven public, large-scale murals emerged in the city. The places were Stigbergstorget in Majorna, Sjumilahallen in Biskopsgården, Skanstorget, Valhalla IP and Elite Park Avenue in the center and Jättestensskolan on Hisingen where the students were co-creators. During the year, the public was invited to create a movable sculpture.

Artscape 2016

Artscape was a street art festival that took place all over Gothenburg 25 July – 21 August 2016, as part of the initiative during the focus year 2016 – more culture for more people. During the festival, well-known international and local artists created large-scale works of art on selected walls in all parts of Gothenburg. Most of the works of art now have a permanent building permit, and remain to be visited until Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary.

A total of 22 works of art by 19 different artists were built in all ten districts of the city. Among other things, Sweden’s tallest murals were erected in Frölunda (40 meters high), British Cityzenkane erected wall-mounted 3D sculptures on Andra långgatan in Linnéstaden and Argentine AnimalitoLand painted fairy tales on a facade in Hammarkullen. During the festival, three workshops were also arranged, where everyone who was interested could try painting with spray paint.

Urban art and Gothenburg's 400th anniversary 2021 together with the organization Göthenburgo and illustrator Rocio Soto created an Artscape map. The aim was to guide Gothenburg citizens and tourists to the 22 artworks that were set up during the Artscape Festival July 25-August 21,2016).
