The playground completed in Spring 2022

“This spring, we look forward to welcoming young and old to the city’s new excursion playground to play and learn, discover and explore or just relax”, says project manager Malin Gustafsson, park and nature administration.

From 6 September and one month onward, artistic playground sculptures will be mounted in the park. In addition to challenging your imagination, they encourage fast-paced as well as calm games and relaxation.

“You will be able to climb, balance, swing and slide on the sculptures, as well as just relax, hide in or have a coffee break on. Sound sculptures and fabulous animals will also be included in the excursion playground”, says Malin Gustafsson,

The specially designed play sculptures are produced in collaboration with the artists Daniel Götesson “EKTA”, Patrik Bengtsson and New Order Arkitektur.

Surrounding green clearings

For two weeks, 31 large trees have also been planted at the site at Kvillepiren in Frihamnen. The trees have been moved due to the construction of the The West Link Project (Västlänken). They have now got new permanent placements in the Centenary Park, where they will be part of the lush clearings that, among other things, will surround the excursion playground.
