Lundby in Hisingen in Göteborg is from the middle of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century going through a major change. On the north side of the Göta river several ship building industries are established.

In this way Lundby is transformed from a rural society to an industrial part of the city.

When “Lundby Hembygdsförening” was formed at the end of the 1980s a work was initiated to collect and document older photographs. The result today is a large collection of photos.

The book “A bygone Lundby” was a part of work to extensively invent Lundby photographs from the 1860s to about 1930. The collection of photos of our association was for this purpose complemented with photos from other sources.

In addition to the image material of the book , about 260 photographs and 45 maps, a number of childhood memories of Lundby residents are presented.
