ARTDOM has been ongoing since 2016 by Gothenburg-based artist Arghavan Agida. Arghavan has for many years worked with various creative means to higlight women’s rights. This year, for the first time, all Artdom’s 3 parts will be shown at Göteborgs Kulturkalas.

ARTDOM involves female artists from each country being connected in pairs and starting a creative process, where they each paint half of the same canvas. One finishes what the other started. The result is unique works of art, which reflect different realities and cultures as well as common experiences and thoughts about being a woman.

The artworks from parts 1 & 2 have so far been exhibited in Stockholm, Oslo, London and Pakistan and part 3 was exhibited in Mumbai, and Oslo.

Part 1 of ARTDOM was a collaboration between Sweden and Iran, with the theme Freedom.
The project received a lot of attention through social media, Swedish TV & Iranian press, with exhibitions in London, Gothenburg & Stockholm. Unfortunately, the exhibition was banned in Iran, which gave us further motivation to continue with the project.
Part 2 was between Norway-Pakistan & this part also received a lot of attention (the launch at the Grand Hotel in Oslo was inaugurated by the then Norwegian Minister of Culture Abid Q. Raja. In November 2021, both parts 1 & 2 of ARTDOM were exhibited at Sergelgatan’s Art Gallery in Stockholm. The Minister of Culture Amanda Lind inaugurated the exhibition.

ARTDOM is about art but even more about building bridges across borders, cultural exchanges, dialogue and trust and women’s rights worldwide. To let art carry an important voice. The goal is to create interest in all these questions, which we largely already do through our social channels (facebook, instagram & website) where you can follow the exciting and ongoing process with ARTDOM.
