About Gothenburg Textile Heritage Centre

Gothenburg Textile Heritage Centre (Remfabriken in Swedish) is a unique, well-preserved industrial-historical environment from an important era in Gothenburg’s history when the textile industry was significant. They manufactured belts for transmission systems, and the original transmissions showcasing their usage are still preserved. Today, the factory is a living work-life museum with functioning machinery.

Museum Opening Hours

The museum is open throughout the summer, until 27th August.
Monday 13:00 – 19:00

Sunday – Thursday 13:00 – 16:30

Guided Tours

No pre-registration is required for the tours. Admission cost, including the tour: 80 SEK, students 40 SEK. Children up to 16 years old are free when accompanied by their family.
Monday 13:00, 15:00, and 17:30

Sunday – Thursday 13:00 and 15:00

During the tours, the original machinery and several textile machines that have found a place at Remfabriken are demonstrated, such as braiding machines and lace machines.

For families with children, there are special activities that engage all the senses!

Gothenburg Textile Heritage Centre is located at Åvägen 15, 412 50 Göteborg.

Accessibility

The museum is accessible on the ground floor. Parking is available in the courtyard. There is no lift or accessible restroom on the premises.
