Jubileumssatsningar / The King of Sweden celebrates 50 years on the throne
12 May 2023

In 2023, Carl XVI Gustaf celebrates 50 years on the throne and is thus Sweden’s longest-reigning monarch of all time. This is highlighted through the photo exhibition Carl XVI Gustaf – 50 years for Sweden, which is on Gustaf Adolfs torg until midsummer. On June 4, the King and Queen visits Gothenburg. In the morning, the King and Queen travels in a horse-drawn cortege from Götaplatsen, along the Kungsportsavenyn, to Gustaf Adolfs Torg, where the King gives a speech. In the afternoon, the royal couple will participate in the 400th anniversary celebrations in Frihamnen. Here there will be, among other things, a festive gala concert at the Anniversary Festival. Open and free entry for anyone who wants to participate.
